Sea of Laundry

Sculptural textile mixed media
Sea of Laundry: inspired by the overwhelming and seemingly endless cycle of household laundry, a rhythm both exhausting and deeply woven into daily life.
A sculpted piece of laundry taken from one of the artist’s own piles rises from the frame in the form of a swelling wave, symbolizing how these responsibilities often refuse to be contained. At the base of the surge sits a small brass ship hoisting a red flag, representing the artist pressing forward into the battle of everyday demands with a spirit of “no surrender.” Layered with deep oceanic greens, accents of battle red, and reflections of luminous gold, the piece transforms domestic overwhelm into something immersive, resilient, and unexpectedly beautiful
Part of the “Elegy for the Everyday” collection which emerges from the artist’s personal sensitivity to disruption, especially movements of family and daily life. What might seem insignificant, crumbs underfoot, piles of laundry, dirty dishes, become obsessive distractions. This collection is curated to reflect an intentional practice of overcoming frustration by learning to notice, tolerate, and ultimately find thankfulness in disarray. Elegy- memorials for the daily frustrations that calm as the dynamics of life shift through passing years.
